‘Iwalani R. Nahuina Else, Ph.D. serves as the Director of Infrastructure & Collaboration, and is a Study Co-Principal Investigator on Surveillance for the APIVPC. She is also an Assistant Professor with the Department of Psychiatry at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawai‘i at Manoa, and serves as the Associate Director of the National Center for Indigenous Hawaiian Behavioral Health. Dr. Else is a NIH Health Disparities Scholar through the loan repayment program in Health Disparities Research and is a former fellow of the American Sociological Association’s Minority Fellowship Program in Mental Health. Her research interests in youth violence include the health disparities, the link between mental health and medical conditions, and providing culturally and socially responsive, community-based behavioral health services. |
